Tryptone serves the source of nitrogen, yeast extract serves the source of nitrogen and vitamins, and sodium chloride balances the osmotic balance. The Luria Bertani (Miller) is used for the cultivation of E.coli. The robust growth of E. coli is necessary for the cultivation of microphages and in the recombinant technology studies.
